Tennessee's Children . . .
The sad fact is, there are children in Tennessee who are unable to live with their biological families. Often this is for just a short period of time, sometimes it is forever. These children need and deserve a family who is able to provide a comfortable, stable and healthy home. The Department of Children's Services (DCS) is looking for individuals and families who are able to provide just what our kids need, a safe and nurturing home.
Resource Parenting, formerly known as Foster Parenting, is a service that provides the biological family and the child a time to heal and work through issues while the child is required to be in an out-of-home placement. Tennessee believes that the Resource Parent's home is more than just a temporary home, you are making a commitment to the well-being of the youth and his/her family.
Whenever possible, returning to their biological family or relatives is the priority for our children. However there are times when that is not a safe and appropriate option. Our hope is the Resource Parent is able to provide a permanent home. Children experience so many traumas when they are removed from their families and our goal is to provide as much stability as possible as they transition into permanency.
We ask our Resource Parents to open their homes and their hearts to our children and teenagers. Please look at this site and ask yourself, What if you became a Resource Parent?
